Thank you to all participants who attended our conference! We learned a lot and look forward to working together to protect manoomin/psin. Below you can find a summary of the conference.Conference-Summary
April 19, 2018, 9:00am-2:30pm
Black Bear Casino at Fond du Lac
Lake Room (in the original building, NOT in the new conference center)
All Tribal resource managers and other relevant representatives are invited
If you would like to attend, please complete this RSVP web form by April 1, so that we can make appropriate conference arrangements and accommodate your travel needs. For those who prefer to call with their RSVP information, you may reach us at: 612-624-9243 (Crystal Ng).
Our team has traveled around Minnesota the last couple of months to visit Tribal resource managers, Elders, and other representatives to ask what their concerns are about manoomin, and whether we might be able to work together to support Bands’ efforts to preserve and restore it. We would now like to hold a conference for all partners and potential partners to jointly consider the various concerns that we have heard and decide whether and how we should work together to tackle some of these problems, starting with our two-year grant.
We will cover travel costs for Tribal members and representatives, including transportation and lodging; meals will provided at the conference.
(UPDATE: Based on the RSVP responses: we will book a block of rooms at Black Bear Casino for the night of April 18 and distribute forms at the conference for mileage reimbursement. You do NOT need to contact Black Bear Casino separately.)
We have scheduled our conference in coordination with 1854 Treaty Authority to follow Tribal resource management meetings hosted there earlier in the week. We hope this facilitates travel plans for those attending the meetings at 1854 Treaty Authority, who also wish to participate in our conference.
